The Olympic Games is the biggest organization in the world, and this year the place in charged of that fabulous work was Beijing, China. The Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad was established on December 13, 2001, five months after Beijing won the right to host the 2008 Olympic. Then, the ceremony of the Beijing Olympics kicked off 08.08.2008 and the reason for it is the number 8 is considered lucky by the Chinese and the Asian nations which were proudly set to show it to the world.
Every four years, athletes from many countries around the world get prepared to classify to this great sport event. Furthermore, that is not the only important issue in this event, there are also many people who have to work hard in order to prepare the organization; consequently, millions of people and money were used in order to build the Olympic venue in Beijing in order to have the greatest event of the human history.
The begging of the Olympic Games took place in the stadium called "The bird Nest". Besides, the stadium got that name because of its shape, was a very important place because the opening and closing celebrations took place in. Also, it was one of the many sites of the Olympic village which attracted a lot of tourists from all over the world in order to enjoy the sport competition. .
On the other hand, Not only we could observe 205 delegations all together under the Olympic flag, but also we could enjoy of amazing fireworks and spectacles in which hundreds coordinated people displayed all the best characteristics of the oriental culture. . One of the most amazing performances was the tuning on of the Olympic Flame by an ex-Chinese athlete who in a magic flying though the top of the stadium arrived to the Olympic torch located at the roof of that enormous building.
This year, many records were broken by new exponents in the different disciplines; among them, there were two highlighted competitors, Usain Bolt, a Jamaica sprinter, and Michael Phelps. Bolt holds the Olympic and world records for the 100 meters at 9.69 seconds, the 200 meters at 19.30 seconds and, along with his teammates, the 4x100 meters relay at 37.10 seconds, all set at the 2008 Summer Olympics. Bolt became the first man to win all three events at a single Olympics since Carl Lewis in 1984, and the first man in history to set world records in all three at a single Olympics. His name and achievements in sprinting have earned him the media nickname "'Lightning' Bolt. Michael Fred Phelps is an American swimmer. He has won 14 career Olympic gold medals, the most by any Olympian. As of 2008[update], he also holds seven world records in swimming. Phelps holds the record for the most gold medals won at a single Olympics with the eight golds he won at the 2008 Olympic Games. With this record, he surpassed Mark Spitz
Finally, we could know that London is going to be next venue of the Olympic Games. Some famous people like David Beckham and Jimmy Page will appear in order to start the next Olympic opening ceremony in 2012, in which the organizers will try to do a better work, but it seems to be a very difficult job, but we will have to wait four more years to confirm it.
